IHT opened its doors in 1998 with a mere 7 students!
When IHT Hotel School became a strategic partner of Regency, Institute of TAFE in South Australia in 2003, we offered their Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management and 20 students enrolled.
Ever since our small beginning in 1998, we have not only grown in student numbers and infrastructure, but have also embarked on a road to ensure that the vocational education and training we offer are recognised and quality assured in South Africa. With the input of our excellently qualified and experienced academic staff members, our learning programme was adapted and enhanced to meet the standards required by the Higher Education Quality Committee of the Council on Higher Education of South Africa. The programme was accredited by the HEQC in March 2008.
 Our lecturing staff not only have excellent qualifications, but all have experience in their fields of expertise. Therefore course material is regularly updated to remain relevant to developments in industry.
A wide variety of inter-active events binds a student and lecturing
body together and forms the foundation of our uniqueness. Classes
are small and students receive individual attention if and when needed.
Our "fun days" twice a year, our "Winter Ball", together with our "talent evenings" and yearly fund-raising efforts are some of the characteristics and highlights of campus-life at IHT.
