IHT Hotel School (Pty) Ltd is provisionally registered with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act 1997. The registration number is No. 2008/HE07008 and the certificate is displayed in the reception foyer on campus. After completing and submitting the remaining documents, we will be able to apply for conversion to full registration.

The programme originated as the three year Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management registered and accredited in Australia during the time IHT Hotel School was a strategic partner of Regency, Institute of TAFE in South Australia.
Although the programme is Australian in origin, it was adapted and with the competent input of our excellently qualified academic staff, was completely altered to meet the standards set by the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) of the South African Council on Higher Education. This included the changing of its designation to that of the Diploma in Hospitality Management. The programme was provisionally accredited by the HEQC in March 2008.
The qualification was then registered on the National Qualifications Framework with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) ID Number: 63169.
